The Liscomb region of Nova Scotia is one of the most wild and rugged parts of the province. It is where glaciers scoured out a diverse landscape of drumlin fields, perched boulders, wild rivers and dozens of lakes of all shapes and sizes. Because of its remoteness, the Liscomb area was a haven for moose and one of the last places where woodland caribou roamed in Nova Scotia. Today it is a large forest refuge for many of Nova Scotia’s big animals including deer, mainland moose and black bears. It is home to more than 125 different species of birds. The watersheds of several rivers, including: East River Sheet Harbour, Grant River, Twelve Mile Stream, Salmon River, Little Liscomb River, Quoddy River, Moser River, and Ecum Secum River provide outstanding opportunities for backcountry canoeing, kayaking and hiking adventures. Large expanses of the Saint Mary's River and Liscomb River watersheds, two rivers famous for Atlantic salmon and trout fishing flow out of the Liscomb wildlife sanctuary. All of this is minutes away from our Liscomb Oceanfront property. For families that love the outdoors and want to experience nature in a pristine environment there are few places in the world that compare. |
